Vacancy for a professorship (at lecturer/senior lecturer level) The faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences has a vacancy for a professorship, starting from October 1,2012. It concerns a job as full time lecturer in the department of Educational Studies, charged with academic teaching (in Dutch), scientific research and carrying out scientific duties in the field of Language Development and Support.

Profile:

Vacature: VPO- bestuurslid/ website redacteur

Beste VPO leden,

Vanaf 1 januari 2012 zal Chantal Gorissen na 3 jaar haar functie als VPO- bestuurslid/ website redacteur neerleggen. Het VPO bestuur vraagt hierbij aan alle leden om te overwegen of zij geïnteresseerd zijn om deze taak op zich te nemen. Voor de continuïteit binnen het bestuur zijn we op zoek naar iemand die minimaal 1 jaar zijn/haar taken volwaardig uit kan voeren. De vergaderingen vinden overwegend plaats in Utrecht.

De specifieke taken van de website redacteur van het VPO zijn:
- Het up-to-date houden van de VPO website
- Het schrijven van korte verslagen van de VPO middagen en borrels om op de website te plaatsen.

Daarnaast is de website redacteur samen met de overige bestuursleden verantwoordelijk voor het organiseren van VPO-middagen (2-3 per jaar) en de activiteiten van het VPO op de Onderwijs Research Dagen (ORD). Doorgaans verlopen tussentijds de contacten via email, bijvoorbeeld over het regelen van sprekers of het aanleveren van teksten. Hoeveel tijd de functie kost is wisselend, rond perioden dat er iets georganiseerd wordt (VPO-middag, ORD of nieuwsbrief/ verslag) kost het meer tijd per week dan wanneer dit niet het geval is. Er is natuurlijk een minimale tijdsbesteding: vergadering, VPO-middagen, mails, maar veel hangt af van hoeveel je er zelf in wilt steken.

Het bestuur vraagt iedereen die geïnteresseerd is in de vacante positie van website redacteur van het VPO dit kenbaar te maken aan het bestuur (voor 15 december) door een mail met een korte motivatie te sturen naar Johan van Strien (Johan.vanStrien@ou.nl). Responsibilities
The Faculty of Social Sciences at Radboud University Nijmegen is seeking an Assistant Professor (UD) of Educational Science. You will have teaching responsibilities at the School of Educational Science. You will develop and teach courses in educational science, both in the Bachelor’s degree programme (Educational Sciences) and in the Master’s degree programme (Education), and will supervise Bacholor’s and Master’s theses. You will carry out research as a member of the Learning and Plasticity group at the Behavioural Science Institute. Your research programme should bridge the gap between fundamental research on teaching and learning (in, for example, neuroscience, psychology, or sociology) and applied research on teaching and learning in actual educational practice. A focus on language education would be especially welcome. You will actively seek external research funding and will supervise PhD students.

What we expect from you
You should have:
- a PhD in educational science or a learning-related discipline (e.g. neuroscience, psychology, linguistics, cognitive science, sociology);
- several years of postdoctoral experience;
- an established track record of research documented by publications in international peer-reviewed journals and talks at conferences and workshops;
- teaching experience/skills evidenced by a certificate (e.g. the Basic University Teaching Qualification, BKO) or be willing to acquire such a qualification within two years;
- the ability to attract and manage external research funding;
- the ability to supervise PhD students;
- good proficiency in spoken and written English;
- fluency in Dutch, or be willing to learn Dutch in order to be able to teach in this language after 2 years.

What we have to offer
We offer you:
- employment: 1,0 fte;
- a maximum gross monthly salary of € 4,970 based on a 38-hour working week (salary scale 12);
- in addition to the salary: an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus;
- the monthly salary will be between €3,195 and €4,970 on a full-time basis, depending on qualifications and experience;
- duration of the contract: 5 years;
- starting date: negotiable, but preferably 1 January, 2012;
- evaluation will take place after a maximum of 4 years. This will result either in a permanent appointment or termination of the contract after 5 years;
- you will be appointed as an Assistant Professor (UD-1).

The Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) invites applications for a faculty position in Learning Technologies. We seek individuals who work at the nexus of research and practice. This search is open rank and may result in the appointment of tenured or tenure-track faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor of Education, Associate Professor of Education(untenured), or Professor of Education.

We especially seek candidates with the qualifications and experience to contribute to our doctoral program (Ed.D.) training the next generation of education researchers, as well as our master’s program in Technology, Innovation and Education. Among the topics of research and teaching expertise of interest to us are intelligent tutoring systems, creative and collaborative media, universal design for learning, transformed social interactions, representation and visualization for learning, online learning and professional development, predictive analytics for individual and organizational data, and mobile learning. Candidates should have a doctorate or another terminal degree in education, cognitive science, psychology, computer science, or another discipline related to learning technologies, or a strong doctoral record in one of those fields. PROJECT 'VALIDIV: Valorising linguistic diversity in multiple contexts

Het Steunpunt Diversiteit en Leren (UGent) en de onderzoeksgroep CuDOS (Vakgroep Sociologie, UGent) zoeken een voltijds vorser die gedurende vier jaar onderzoek zal verrichten naar het positief aanwenden van meertaligheid in het basisonderwijs in Vlaanderen. Het is de bedoeling dat dit onderzoek uitmondt in een doctoraat op proefschrift.

Profiel:
- licentiaat/master in de Sociologie of Pedagogische Wetenschappen
- tijdens de studies meermaals onderscheiden
- grondige statistische kennis (kennis multilevel-analyse strekt
tot de aanbeveling)
- bereid tot inwerken in meer geavanceerde statistische technieken

- ervaring met of bereid tot het voeren van kwalitatief onderzoek
- goede schriftelijke en mondelinge communicatievaardigheden -
Nederlands en Engels
- zelfstandig
